“Introducing A New Breakthrough Tracking System…

The “Integrated Tracking Method”

Let’s face it: When it comes to choosing a tracking course, there’s a lot of choice out there… or so it seems.

One thing’s for sure, no matter where you look you can bet the methods and thought processes used in the training will fall into TWO main categories; Military type tracking or ‘spirit/energy’ type tracking.

So What’s The Difference Between The Two?

Well, the differences constantly causes a LOT of heated debate within the tracking, bushcraft and survival communities. The debates can quite often polarise people to take sides, and depending on your point of view, tend to force you to favour one school of thought over the other.

The Military school basically teaches a very structured, logical, evidence based style of tracking, most suited to pursuing humans. Either to destroy them, arrest them or find them in search and rescue scenarios.

The Energy school teaches a similar style, but highly favour a process of understanding the quarry at a deeper psychological and spiritual level. This helps you to ‘tune in’ to the thoughts and movements of the quarry.

Once this has been achieved, the argument goes the energy method helps you to make better judgements.

So if you want to learn tracking, you very often find you have to make a choice of tracking method.

Neither Side Give Much Credit To The Other Point Of View

It all comes down to this: The choice you make is shown in the diagram below…

As you can see, you’re in the middle, with a choice to make. Once the choice is made… you’re stuck with it.

Or Are You?

Now, wouldn’t it be great if there was a way of resolving this issue?

Imagine another method of tracking where you didn’t have to ‘take sides’ and still have an effective way of achieving everything you want from your tracking?

A method so flexible, you instantly become a tracking detective, a problem solver with the ability to see what others cannot see and experience the same intimate interactions with nature your ancestors once experienced, because you have provided yourself with all the tools in your toolbox to taken out at the appropriate time, in other words the right tool for the right job.

Isn’t THAT What Tracking Should Be About?

You see, having experienced training from BOTH sides of the tracking divide, I realised there had to be a better way of doing things.

So I set about developing a system that COMBINED the best aspects of both schools of thought.

The system is called…

The Integrated Tracking Method

or

(I-T-M)

And after training many students in this new system the results and feedback have been very encouraging.

Here’s How It Benefits You…

I-T-M takes both schools of thought, techniques and disciplines and combines them, so you have an effective ‘tool box‘ you can use, as and when you want.

I-T-M enables YOU, the tracker, to switch freely from one tool to another without realising it. This flexibility frees you up to concentrate on the task at hand without limitations.

Okay, so how does it work?

First of all, take a look at this diagram…

As you can see, the Military and Energy tracking methods overlap. This is an intentional part of the training you receive. On the I-T-M courses, you get to experience essential techniques from BOTH tracking methods.

They’re brought together to give you the tools you need to track, without the hindrance or limitations of either method.

Plus, the other big difference is you’re able to select the ‘tools’ you need at any time. That’s represented by the Novice Tracker circle.

And here’s the critical thing: Where all THREE circles overlap, is the integration point. That’s where the most benefit is found with I-T-M.

At the integration point, you have the best at your disposal and can use whatever you need.

I-T-M… The Cornerstone Of Tracking

So not only are you trained in getting into the “mind” of the quarry; how the senses are used to see and find sign - you also learn a methodical procedure of following sign/spoor which falls somewhere between the step-by-step method and aggressive speed-tracking.

It’s this overlapping, merging and blending of the two schools of thought, that lies at the very heart of I-T-M.

“I prefer the scientific, it offers me validation, but if you can’t get a scientific answer I’m NOW happy to go with my Gut Hunch Instinct on the matter, because its far better when tracking to make A decision and move on then be paralysed by lack of viewable information and come to a complete stand still – The target is still moving and you are not – Better to play your inner hunch and move with it.”
